Weaves

There are many different weaves out there, thought to have originated out of three main families of weaves - European, Persian and Japanese. Maille as an armour type is believed to have been created from between 4th century B.C. to 3rd century B.C. which itself is believed to have been derived from Scale armour which dates as far back as the 1,400's B.C. It is thought that around the 11th Century (A.D.) the first pieces of chainmaille jewelry were created. By combining different ring sizes and weave families, hundreds, if not more than a thousand different weaves and variants have been created.

What this means for you, is that there is wonderous variety. And given that these pieces are hand-crafted, no two are ever quite the same.
